As users of Publicaster from Blue Sky Factory, (all our clients who use email are on it) I was eager to share this blog with you when I came across it earlier today. It’s an overview of A/B Split testing emails and it very clearly explains the reasoning behind it, so if you’re new to the technique then this is a great read to get you thinking and using it.  But if you’re already an established email marketer – Do you use A/B Slit testing? If not, shame on you! Get busy with it..

We are massive advocates of A/B split testing emails and here’s why;

“Have you ever wanted to know what subject line would get the most subscribers to open an email? A/B Split testing is an easy, no-risk way you can test different subject lines against your own subscribers and make sure that your distributions are using the most effective subject lines.”

“An A/B split test lets you test out an email with several different subject lines to a small sample of your list, making sure that the same number of subscribers gets each different subject line. Then it waits a specified period of time as it records the reporting from these sample distributions. Once that period of time is up, it automatically sends the email to the rest of the list with whichever subject line got the most opens. Because the sample groups are only a small portion of the list, the majority of your subscribers receive the most effective subject line.”

So next time you send a business email, consider what A/B Split testing will do for you, and if your still confused – give us a call and we’ll be happy to help out.

And remember ..test, test, test …measure and test again.

Untill next time

Mike
