Keeping Your Blog Up To Date With Relevant Content

Posted in Business blogging, 1 Comment

Running a blog is a great way of improving your websites search engine optimisation, or SEO. If updated regularly it gives search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing a good reason to index your website frequently. If the blogs content is relevant to your business you’ll soon pick up new buyers via your blog

It’s important to keep your blog regularly maintained. Add new posts at least once per week, ideally 2-3 times per week. If you allow comments, just go though them once per week to clean any spam or non relevant messages and reply to any comments needing replies. By regularly maintaining your blog you’ll soon build loyalty and returning visitors. Give visitors unique and high quality information and they’ll soon subscribe and come back regularly.

One of the most important aspects of any successful business is reliability. If you can demonstrate this through regularly updated blogs, full of quality and unique content, you’ll quickly develop respect from visitors. Some visitors will start to comment on your blogs, if you enable this feature. This will increase your credibility further in a testimonial-like style.

So what content do you put into your blog? It must be relevant to your business and your products and services. For example: a hairdressing salon might run a blog on different hairstyles and hair maintenance tips for healthy-looking hair. Once indexed by search engines, people will start finding these posts. Internet users searching for “hair maintenance tips” might some across your blogs.

By regularly updating your blog with content that’s relevant to your business; you’re giving visitors what they’re looking for. It’s a great way of setting yourself as an expert in your field and encouraging people to not only bookmark your blogs, but share it with their like-minded friends. This can create a viral marketing buzz whereby your website gets huge amounts of traffic purely by word of mouth.

Keeping your blog regularly updated 2-3 times per week isn’t as difficult as it might first seem. Remember; you have modern technology to help make your life easier! Most blogging software will allow you to batch upload posts. This is where you can add multiple posts at one time and schedule their release dates.

If you plan to update your blog 2-3 times per week, you could have 12 articles written. Upload these 12 articles as posts at the beginning of the month and schedule them to ‘go live’ on separate dates. That way; your blog will reliably update itself 3 times per week at the same time each day, for the entire month! This will create the impression that your business is very reliable and trustworthy.

Whilst it might seem slightly cheeky to do this, all you’re doing is making the most of modern technology. You’re clients will more than likely be really impressed that your blog is self-updating. Your clients might even want to copy you! Before you know it; your business has created a buzz, a talking point that makes it stand out.

We’ve only just started blogging, so this is great advice for us – especially about the scheduling.

I think writing 10 or so articles on a Sunday afternoon is probbaly a little easier than writing one every couple of days without fail.

    Thanks for the advice
